Founder's picture

I’m not sure if my story starts with my first taste of rendang at a London food market or with my international development career that took me to incredible corners of the world. Maybe it should begin with my childhood in Nigeria, surrounded by entrepreneurial people who taught me that if I wanted to make my own way in the world, I needed to be resilient, adaptable, and courageous. Or perhaps it simply starts with the comfort of my family’s slow-cooked meals.

 

Wherever it began, Malaysia was calling! I went there to learn how to make rendang authentically and build a business around it. Two years later, Rendang! Thank You Ma’am was born, and I had the joy of sharing this delicious dish with others, and watching them fall in love with it just as I did. My rendang has received rave reviews from customers and critics alike, with Jay Rayner from The Guardian and Marina O'Loughlin from The Times describing it as "a plate of the nation" and praising its ability to "fire your passion."

 

Being me, I couldn't just stick with making rendang, arguably the most challenging dish to cook in the world! I had to take it up a notch by adding more slow cooked flavours to my menu. I've included extra tasty sides like our fragrant rice and handmade wraps, and decided, why not, let's make all our own chili sauce, chipotle tomato salsa, tahini dressing, and pickled vegetables in-house. Rendang! Thank You Ma’am has now blossomed into The Happy Pot.

 

At The Happy Pot, our mission is to bring happiness to the world by serving deliciously healthy comfort food. Our motto is simple: good things take time. We’re all about slow cooked, flavourful dishes that make people smile.
